(1) Does the library have an advisory committee? What are its functions?

Yes, the library has an advisory committee and its function are as under:

Function of Advisory Committee

1. By calling a meeting with the principal and management of the college to discuss about the financial need in the library, to allot the amount for the library, and to prepare the budget on allocation of fund.

2. To allot the fund to reach over the expenses like of furniture, books, magazines, news papers and other accidental expense.

3. To process for the purchase of the books and reference books as per the allocation of the fund for a particular subject.

4. To pay the subscription of the magazines from January to December as per academic calendar but on certain occasions the librarian can pay up the same urgently.

5. To make efforts to start the book-bank in the college library. To order for purchase of the books as per the intake and to collect maintenance expense from the students.

6. By collecting the deposit from the students, to allot books to the students in the first term end in the last term by collecting the books from the students, by deducting the maintenance charge to re-pay the remaining amount of the deposit.

7. To formulate the rules for the well maintenance of discipline in library and to make necessary procedure for the same.

8. To promote and guide the students for the maximum use of the library and to do needful for the same.

9. To make efforts to strengthen the library with infrastructural facilities so as to provide the maximum academic facilities be available to the students.

10. To make procedure to establish library committee, magazine committee of the students.

11. To make over-all management and procedure as per the need of the library.

(2) How does the library ensure access, use and security of materials?
It is properly maintained by the librarian and library staff

ACCESS :

When the students and staff enter the library is registered.

USE :

Open cupboards are available for selection of books and journals for the students and staff. Interlibrary loan services are also available with other units.

SECURITY :

For the security of library materials following rules are established.

1. A fine of Rs.1/- per day is charged for the delay in returning the books. No excuses are entertained.

2. All library books should be returned one week before the university exams of else the examination slip would not be issued.

3. In case of loss of any book, it must be replaced in original or the actual amount to be coupled with the postage charge has to be paid by the student.

4. Books should be checked for missing pages or damages before the issue. The user shall be held responsible for any damage and liable to penalties as per the decision of the committee.

5. Silence should be maintained in and around the library.

(3) How does the library ensure purchase and use of current titles, important journals and other reading materials?

It is decided by the librarian and library advisory committee.

PURCHASE :

Purchase of new titles, journals and books are decided after circulating the notes and catalogues among the students and staff, the demand and the available budget is considered for purchase of new reading materials and weightage is given to the purchase of subject related titles

USE :

List of new books and journals is circulated among the staff and students and put on the notice board. Content of the books journals and magazines are also put on notice board.

(4) Are the library services computerized? Does the institution make use of INFLIBNET/DELNET/IUC facilities? If yes, give details.

Yes, the library services are computerized. Yes, institution makes use of INFLIBNET. Library provides the titles of thesis, review of literatures, and website address to the students and faculty by the INFLIBNET.

(6) How does the library motivate students/teachers to read existing and new arrivals?

Library motivates students/ teachers by book exhibition, journal indexing services, lecture before the student, notice circulation, putting new arrivals on notice board and providing materials for competitive examination.

Purchased of required furniture, computer and new building of the library is provided by the management during last five years.
